04/13/2013 - Syd - My name is Sydney Fallon from Boston, MA. I have always strongly supported gay marraige ever since I was 14 years old driving in the car with my parents and listening to a discussion about it on the radio that outraged me enough to say "mom, why would we live in a state that doesn't allow gays to marry?" and she "replied, honey, no state does." I was shocked. My parents raised me around so many different types of people and I just thought it was the norm to be open-minded and found this news to be very disturbing. The name of your campaign also makes a lot of sense to me being that though I try my best to respect other people's opinion but not respecting one's civil right to marry for "love" is just as bad as when this country once had laws saying people of different races could not marry or that when African-American were slaves, they too could not marry and these are times historically, we would rather forget about! So we should be moving forward as a society not backward. The divorce rate being so drastically high is not only a slap in the face to say to Prop 8 but also proves that marriage is not a fertility project and is about LOVE at the end of the day not H8.
