- Boyfriend and I met at our college at Colorado State University, it was love at first site. I asked him if he wanted to take a NOH8 photo and he said I would be glad to! I want the world to know how much we love eachother. The more hate we get, the stronger our love becomes!
I never knew what NOH8 campaign was, nor did I even understand the pictures people were taking until I learned about the entire project/campaign.
Growing up in Pueblo, CO and surrounded by a huge population of conservative family, peers and religious background was extremely hard. I had a very hard life, until I went to Clearfield Job Corps and found out who I really was and met the most wonderful GLBT people on this earth. I then transfered to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO.
During the Matthew Shepard incident that took place, I was in the transition of forming a chapter of Delta Lambda Phi a Gay Fraternity for Progessive Men. Upon starting the colonization process I recieved numerous hate mail, negative phone messages and gay bashing threats made to me. The threats got so serious that I made National news including New York Times and many other State Newspapers as well as 9News Denver CO. I also had a feature page in the Advocate Magazine. I told the public, the more Hate I got, the more Stronger I would become in forming a Gay Fraternity as well as fighting for the youth and activism.
In 2012 I met a wonderful gay named George and I showed him the true meaning of NOH8. He is not fully out and I support him 100% in whatever he is doing. Just recently we made a video of eachother, and NOH8 photos and did such a good job.
He told me we can't get married however we can wear rings of our committment. To me getting the sacrament of marriage is just a term that we all want. What means to me the most is we show our love for eachother and the more Hate we get from everyone that don't approve of the GLBT lifestyle, the MORE love and stronger we are going to become!
My mother, grandmother, auntie and friends have been especially there for me. But my boyfriend George has been there for me and we are there for eachother! NOH8 is the best thing out there for us! At least we know where we NOW came from!
