Using NOH8Campaign.com to Show Support, by Nichole
Friday, December 28th, 2012My name is Nichole and I posed with my daughter Armonee. I have always been a supporter of the gay community and I have a lot of friends and a few family memebers who are gay. About one year ago, my daughter came out to me that she was gay and she was very nervous to tell me. I asked her why and she said because she didn't know how I would react. I was more hurt than anything that she wasn't completely comfortable coming to me.
I immediately took her to the NOH8 site, which I have been aware of and a supporter of for awhile, and I showed her the photos. I told her not only did I love her and support whatever decision she made, all of these faces did too - and she would never be alone.
A few months later I took her to PRIDE in San Antonio so she could see that she belonged to an amazing community of people who would always embrace her and have her back as I do. I wanted us to pose together so she would always know she would never have to be silenced. Thank you for giving people a platform to do so.
