RE-UNITED FOR AIDS WALK LA

Monday, November 8th, 2010

As some of you might remember, the Hollywood United Methodist Church welcomed the NOH8 Campaign back to its space in Hollywood a few weeks ago in order to help Team NOH8 raise money for AIDS WALK LA. In addition to our team fundraising, the shoot at HUMC helped us to collect over $10,000 for AIDS Project Los Angeles; and we couldn't be more proud!

Here are a few photos from Team NOH8's AIDS WALK LA Fundraiser shoot, as well as statements from a few supporters on the day. A big thanks to AIDS WALK LA for providing the red fabric AIDS ribbons to our supporters to wear in support of the cause.

"I'd love to share a brief story. I was in Los Angeles from my home in the Washington DC area for a convention. Hollywood UMC is my friend's church, and a group of us wanted to support the church, their AIDS walk, and the community by posing. There were a few locals in my picture, but the rest of us are scattered from around the world--Australia, England, Northern California, Virginia. Some of us had just met that weekend, while others have been friends for years. But we're all united in the desire to see equality for all and equal rights for everyone. It was our pleasure to support the NoH8 campaign." -Briana Lambert (Centreville, VA)

"I support NOH8 for my family, for the dance community, for all those who choose to live their lives truthfully." - Alexie Agdeppa - Dancer, Top 11 Finalist on So You Think You Can Dance Season 7.

"I posed because I know what it's like grow up gay in small-town, Texas and I wanted to let gay-youths know that they're not alone." - Martin Sopha

"I posed for the NOH8 Campaign because i believe that everyone should have the right to freedom. Love is infinite, indefinable and in todays society, we are held up by laws and regulations. What kind of laws are we respecting when its depriving us of what we as human being need; LOVE! Everyone has a right to happiness and choice. I support marriage equality despite of ethnicity, color and GENDER. I as an individual believe hate is infectious and it is our job to destroy these barriers and focus on whats really important, unconditional love for one another." - Kevin De Leon, Mr. Phillipines USA 2010

Remember, you can see these and many more inspirational stories in our BE HEARD section. We're always regularly adding new testimonials, and we encourage you to check them out when you have a minute. You might be surprised to learn the origins behind some of your favorite photos!
