NOH8 Kicks Off April With New Jersey Tour
Monday, April 2nd, 2012In March, the NOH8 Campaign was able to travel to seven cities and meet over 1,400 NOH8 supporters and volunteers as we toured a stretch of cities in the Midwest for the first time including Tulsa, St. Louis, Lexington, Indianapolis, and Columbus. We were so proud to see how far the message of NOH8 has spread and how many communities have embraced "no hate" and using our message to promote dialogue among their friends and family. Team NOH8 is excited continue that momentum into April with a collaboration we've been developing with Rutgers University.
On Wednesday, April 4th the NOH8 Campaign will host an open photo shoot at Rutgers University in NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey - an event the college has encouraged students to participate in by subsidizing the cost of their photos (the first 175 Rutgers students will receive a solo photo for a discounted rate of $5).
Wednesday evening, NOH8 Co-Founders Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley will join a special Marriage Equality Panel at Rutgers New Brunswick alongside Lambda Legal Community Educator Aron Cobbs, local LGBT artists and activists Cheryl & JaVonne, and Rutgers Grad Student/US Army Reserve Veteran Nina Duong where they will discuss the fight for marriage equality in a forum open to anyone in the community who would like to attend.
Day 2 of our Tour will bring us to Rutgers University in CAMDEN, New Jersey, where the school has announced they are offering free solo photos to the first 150 Rutgers students who attend the NOH8 Photo shoot.
As a reminder, the previously announced Rutgers Newark event (April 3rd) was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologize for any inconvenience. However, we hope those of you who had planned on attending the Newark photo shoot can instead make it out to New Brunswick or Camden.
The NOH8 Campaign will continue to travel through the month of April, stopping in Baltimore, Richmond, Charleston, and a return to Long Beach. We will continue to announce more events throughout the course of the month - so be sure to keep an eye on the website, as well as our Facebook and Twitter, to make sure you don't miss our stop in your city.
Can't make it to the NOH8 Campaign stops in New Jersey? You can still contribute your own homemade NOH8 photo to the campaign via the MY NOH8 section of our website along with hundreds of other supporters all over the world. Click here for more details!
